Garden of Blessing - Mae Sai, Thailand
EXANSOFTWARE
The Foundation owns an 8 ½ acre plot on a rising plateau that connects to some magnificent, sharp upthrusts of mountains along the Myanmar/Thai border. Here we have a complex for training leaders mostly among the Paluangic and Waic language groups.
A literacy center and office stands at the center of the property. Here we have created numerous educational publications, books, a Wa Bible, and histories of the Wa people. Our aspiring leader’s trainings are holistic focusing on creating larger world views. We train in the scriptures, reading and writing, computer skills, English and Thai, children at risk issues, agriculture and so on.
The foundation works in conjunction with the Lawa Tribal Association of Ratchaphad University. A group that promotes the ethnicity of the Lawa peoples of Thailand.
In this community we also have 15 orphans from various villages in Thailand. Some of these villages are Christian and some are not. There is a teak grove as a long term project to help cover the higher education costs for orphans.
The children’s home consists of a series of cottages and is staffed by the students as well as full time personnel. This allows our folks to get hands on experience at working with children and many of them will care for orphans at other homes in SE Asia or adopt orphans later when they plant new churches in remote jungle villages.
This property is a place of peace and a refuge to children at risk and marginalized peoples. Some current needs would include more land for agriculture training and sustenance farming as well as funding to restore the watershed for the area to increase the irrigation and water supply. << back
