VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT - FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Food for Thought Volunteer Spotlight – No child should have to go hungry!
Thankfully, front-line superhero volunteers like Marnie Parton make it possible to provide a Backpack Program full of nutrition to kids in need of meals on the weekends.
Here’s a little more about Marnie:

-Cappuccino ice cream
What is your dream vacation destination?
-Japan
Why is it important for you to volunteer at Food for Thought?
-To help feed hungry kids. I was a teacher for 37 years and have seen first hand how hungry students cannot focus.

-Hallelujah
How has volunteering impacted you?
-It makes me feel valued, great start to each week.
What is your favourite indoor/outdoor activity?
Pickleball (only in the winter as I’d rather play outside) Outside activity – hiking
What advice do you have for kids struggling in school?
-Schools have so much to offer, join a club/team/activity that gives you a reason to go to school and you will meet friends that have the same interests as you.
What has been the biggest surprise about volunteering?
-How many volunteers it takes every week to put it all together.
Since the pandemic started, Food for Thought has been working to eliminate child hunger in our community, one child at a time.
