Security

Hope for the Nations (hereafter referred to as “HFTN”) make(s) available to you this website located at https://www.hopeforthenations.com/ (the “Website”) subject to your acceptance of this security policy.

Ensuring the security of information is a top priority of HFTN.

Credit Card and other Sensitive Data

Even though our systems only allow access to authorized staff, we do not store any credit card or sensitive payment information in our databases. We don’t even have access to cardholder data related to recurring donations because these are stored with the payment gateway operators as “secure payment profiles”.

All data entry forms requesting confidential information (such as payment information) on the Website utilize the Internet security protocol known as Secure Sockets Layer (“SSL”). This is a certification and encryption technology designed to ensure sensitive data is kept as safe as possible when using the Internet. For example, Member Account information is stored using this secure format and is only accessible using your user-name and password. You can access your information and change your password by logging in and clicking on ‘My Account’. It is the responsibility of all users to keep their password secure at all times to avoid unauthorized use of your the Website account.

In general, you can know that a webpage you are viewing is secure when your browser’s (URL) address bar shows a website address that starts with “https” (instead of “http”). A ‘closed padlock’ symbol may also be displayed either at the end of the Address Bar or at the bottom right of your browser.

If your browser doesn’t support SSL technology, you will receive an error message when trying to access our SSL page.

Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) compliance.

The PCI DSS is a worldwide information security standard assembled by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). The standard was created to help organizations that process card payments safeguard cardholder information, prevent credit card fraud and improve consumer confidence. The PCI DSS is a multifaceted security standard that includes requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures.

The Website is PCI DSS compliant.
